Showcase
10TH ANNUAL BIZTECH CONFERENCE FEATURED EMERGING
TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASES
Last year BizTech celebrated its 10th
anniversary with a special showcase of emerging
technologies and new businesses. BizTech
organizers and sponsors searched the region to
identify entrepreneurs whose talents have
resulted in exciting new products and
technologies seeking product application. A
section of the conference was reserved to
exhibit these entrepreneurs, inventors and their
creations. Research organizations such as UTEP,
NMSU and the Bi-National Sustainability Lab
participated in the showcase.
Additionally, BizTech invited representatives of
both "angel" and venture capital organizations
to visit the conference and to evaluate the
investment potential of these emerging
technologies. Entrepreneurs had the opportunity
to showcase their ideas; products and business
plans to an audience that can make their dreams
come true!
Showcase local entrepreneurs as exhibitors in
addition to new technologies.
Allow exhibitors to conduct workshops that
highlight their field/service.
Have exhibits adjacent to where workshops
are held.
- Do a workshop on
creativity/out-of-box thinking?
- Do a workshop on
intellectual property, e.g., patents.
- Have the emerging
technology booths in a row; seek common
sponsorship for the group (e.g., a bank).
- Since the emerging
technologies may not have quality signage,
arrange to have some basic signage prepared
for them, perhaps donated by a local
graphics company.
- Allow emerging
technologies the opportunity to present
their business case to investors in a
show-and-tell format, like TVC does at its
annual venture conference in Albuquerque.
- Consider the scope of
participants to be regional: Midland to El
Paso to Albuquerque/LANL
